Businesses across Southend have been urged to remain vigilant after it was reported a person has been impersonating a council officer.
Southend Council's environmental health department has issued a warning to businesses across the city over people claiming to be representing the council.
In a case recently reported, a person has allegedly been impersonating the council's environmental health officer.

A spokesman for environmental health said: "Businesses are reminded to be vigilant when contacted by people who claimed to be representing Southend Council.
"In a case recently reported a person has been impersonating the council's environmental health officer.
"Remember that any authorised officers and representatives should carry and produce valid ID.
"If in doubt, please contact Southend Council on email at environmentalhealth@southend.gov.uk or phone 01702 215005."
