POLICE have launched an appeal for witnesses after "large scale fight" at fast-food restaurant in Benfleet. 

Essex Police were called to KFC, on London Road, in Benfleet, on Saturday at around 10:30pm. 

This was following reports of a large scale fight. 

Officers confirmed a 15-year-old boy from London was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. He has since been bailed whilst investigation work continues. 

A cordon was placed at the scene for more than 12 hours following the fight.

A spokesman for Essex Police's Castle Point community team urged anyone near the location to come forward. 

They said: "If you were at the location close to KFC around 10.30pm and can tell us anything, we want you to get in touch by calling us on 101 or report online.

"Please quote 42/18587/24."
