SEVERAL south Essex residents appeared in magistrates court after being charged with dodging rail fares.

These passengers were all fined after they failed to pay for their tickets on c2c or Greater Anglia trains.

Not buying a ticket is a breach of Railway Byelaws made under Section 219 of the Transport Act 2000.



John Clark

John Clark, 38, of Great Hays, Leigh, was fined for travelling from Basildon to Southend Central Station without having a valid ticket on August 31 last year.

His guilt was proved via the single justice procedure and he appeared in Barkingside Magistrates Court on January 22, this year.

Clark was ordered to pay a total of £487.20 including a £220 fine and further costs of £267.20.

Jair Tavares

Jair Tavares, 39, of The Gore, Basildon, appeared in court after ravelling from Basildon to Southend Central Station without a valid ticket on October 2 last year.

Tavares’ guilt was proved through the single justice procedure and he appeared in Barkingside Magistrates Court on January 22.

He was fined £220 and ordered to pay a further £271 in costs.

Aden Hodges

Aden Hodges, 19, of Threshelford, Basildon, travelled without having a valid ticket from Stanford-Le-Hope to Pitsea Station on October 9 last year.

Hodges appeared in Barkingside Magistrates Court on January 22 and the offence was proved through the single justice procedure.

He was fined £220 and ordered to pay a further £267.70 in costs.

Leon Nestor

Leon Nestor, 32, of Falstones, Basildon, travelled from Basildon to Laindon on October 11 last year without a valid ticket.

He appeared in Barkingside Magistrates Court on January 22 and was proven guilty through the single justice procedure.

Nestor was fined £220 and ordered to pay a further £266.50.

Zait George-Florin

Zait George-Florin, 23, of Lothair Road South, London, was fined for travelling from Basildon to Southend Central Station on August 22 last year.

He appeared in Barkingside Magistrates Court on January 22 and was proven guilty through the single justice procedure.

George-Florin was fined £220 and ordered to pay a further £271 in costs.
