McFly star Dougie Poynter is set to perform at a popular Southend seafront venue this spring - and tickets are expected to sell out fast.

The bassist, 35, rose to fame as a member of the band – alongside Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones and Harry Judd – which produced hit tracks such as 5 Colours in Her Hair and Star Girl.

Tickets are now on sale as Poynter, who has released seven albums with McFly over the years, will be coming to Chinnerys to perform a "special live DJ set".

Revellers at the long-standing Marine Parade music venue can expect to hear Pop Punk, Emo and Indie hits all night long, as well as a performance by Avril Lavigne tribute Courtnay Reddy.

A Chinnerys spokesman shared: "Southend! Dougie Poynter of McFly is coming to perform a special live DJ set, expect to hear Pop Punk, Emo and Indie all night, plus performance by the number one tribute to Avril Lavigne, Courtnay Reddy, as Avril Lavigne and DJ CJK (Bloodstock/Black Parade) on Bank Holiday Sunday, May 26.

"This event will sell out quickly."

The event on Sunday, May 26, has a 16-plus age limit. Fans can buy their tickets now at, and are urged to act fast as they are expected to sell out soon.
