FROM failing to hand evidence to police to being caught speeding, a number of south Essex residents and visitors have been handed fines at courts this month.

A DRUG driver caught more than twice the legal limit on a major south Essex road has been handed a suspended prison sentence.

Cuma Tengiz of Napier Road, Enfield, was found driving on the A127 in Rayleigh on June 28, 2021, when he was found with 5.3 micrograms per litre of THC in his blood - the main psychoactive constituent of cannabis - in his system. The limit is 2.

The 31-year-old was also caught with a quantity of cannabis, and found without a licence and insurance.

Tengiz admitted the offences on January 23 and was handed an 18-week prison sentence, suspended for two years, on Thursday.

He has also been banned from driving for three years and fined a total of £380.


A MAN who failed to hand evidence to a police boss has been fined more than £600.

Carl Johnson, of Woodfield Road, Leigh, failed to give information to the Chief Officer for City of London Police relating to the identification of a driver alleged to have been guilty of an offence, Bromley Magistrates' Court  heard.

The offence was proved via the single justice procedure last Friday. 

The 54-year-old has now been fined £660, ordered to pay costs of £110 and a surcharge to fund victim services of £264.

His driving record was endorsed with six points.


AN uninsured driver caught speeding at almost 100 miles per hour in a major road has been fined more than £1,000.

Edmund Preshaw, of Rochford Road, Canvey, was driving a Nissan Juke on the A13 London-bound in Havering when he was recorded doing 92 miles per hour on September 22. The speed limit is 70.

The 37-year-old was also found to be uninsured.

The offence was proved via the single justice procedure at Bromley Magistrates' Court last Friday.

He has now been fined £1,100 and ordered to pay costs of £110.

His driving record was also endorsed with six points.


A MAN who failed to give information to police relating to a driver alleged to have been guilty of an offence has been handed a large fine.

Mohammed Khan, of Cole Court, Southend, failed to give information to the Chief Officer for Metropolitan Police on August 21 relating to the identification of the Volkswagen Golf driver, Lavender Hill Magistrates' Court heard.

The offence was proved via the single justice procedure on December 11.

The 43-year-old was fined £660 and handed six penalty points on Monday, February 5.

He must also pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £264 and costs of £90.


A SPEEDING motorcyclist caught 11 miles per hour above the speed limit in a major road has been banned from driving for half a year.

Wallison Lemos, of Cherrydown East, Basildon was driving a Yamaha motorcycle on the A406 in Cricklewood when he was recorded speeding at 51 miles per hour. The limit is 40.

The offence was proved via the single justice procedure on November 3.

The 29-year-old was fined £60 and banned from driving for six months at Stratford Magistrates' Court on Monday, February 5.

He has also been ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £24 and costs of £110.


A SPEEDING driver caught 36 miles per hour above the limit in a major road has been fined more than £400.

Michael Cooper, of Causton Way, Rayleigh, was driving on the A303 in Somerset when he was recorded speeding at 106 miles per hour on July 7. The limit is 70.

The 24-year-old admitted the offence via the single justice procedure on January 30.

Cooper was handed a fine of £426 at North Somerset Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, February 14.

He must also pay costs of £95 and a surcharge to fund victim services of £170.

His driving record was endorsed with six points.


A SPEEDING driver caught 7 miles per hour above the limit has been handed a fine.

Emmanuel Asante-Boateng, of Laindon Road, Basildon, was driving a BMW in Shepherds Hill, Harold Wood, when he was recorded speeding at 37 miles per hour on January 10 last year. The limit is 30.

Asante-Boateng had previously denied speeding, but admitted the offence at Stratford Magistrates' Court on Thursday, February 15.

The 28-year-old was fined £72 and ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £28.

His driving record has also been endorsed with three penalty points.


A SOUTH Essex commuter caught at a major London train station without a ticket has been fined more than £200.

Radoslaw Fleszar, of The Ridgeway, Westcliff, was found travelling at London St Pancras International on August 21 without a valid £21.20 train ticket.

The offence was proved via the single justice procedure at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Monday, February 12.

The 32-year-old was fined £220 and ordered to pay compensation of £21.20.

He has also been ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £88 and costs of £135.


A MAN who failed to hand over evidence to a police chief has been handed a large fine and six points on his licence.

Isaac Olujimi, of Kingsdown Walk, Canvey, failed to give information to the Chief Officer for Metropolitan Police in Bexley on September 12 relating to the driver of a Mercedes who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence.

It was proved at Lavender Hill Magistrates’ Court last Tuesday. Olujimi was fined £660, ordered to pay a £264 victim surcharge and £100 costs.


A MAN who failed to hand evidence to police in connection with a driver alleged to have been guilty of an offence has been banned from the roads for half a year.

Leon James, of High Pavement, Basildon, failed to give information to Lincolnshire Police on April 14 relating to the identification of a Toyota driver who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence, Lincoln Magistrates’ Court heard.

The offence was proved in James’ absence on January 5.

The 32-year-old was fined £660 and banned from driving for six months on February 9. He must also pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £1,056 and prosecution costs of £250.


A MOTORIST who was caught behind the wheel while banned from the roads has been handed a community order.

Kemyo Gopaul, of Bramleys, Stanford-le-Hope, was caught behind the wheel while he was banned from driving, in Lea Bridge Road, Waltham Forest, on August 23. His Audi A4 was also uninsured.

The 35-year-old admitted the offences at Thames Magistrates’ Court on February 9. He has now been banned from the roads for another two months and handed a 20-day community order.

Gopaul was also fined £300 and ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85.


A DRIVER who was caught using his phone behind the wheel of a Mercedes Sprinter has been fined.

Muzzammil Hussain, of Southend Road, Stanford-le-Hope, was driving the van in Green Street, Newham, on July 20 when he was found using his mobile phone, Bromley Magistrates’ Court heard.

The offence was proved via the single justice procedure on Tuesday, February 13.

The 35-year-old has now been fined £220, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £88 and costs of £110.

His driving record was also endorsed with six penalty points after his conviction.


A MAN who failed to hand over evidence to an Essex Police boss has been handed a fine.

Temo Wanza-Iza, 51, of Congleton Grove, Woolwich, failed to give information to the chief officer of the force in Billericay on December 15, 2022.

The request related to the identification of a Nissan Qashqai driver alleged to have been guilty of an offence.

He admitted the offence on February 16 at Bromley Magistrates’ Court and has now been fined £120, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £48 and costs of £90.

His driving record was also endorsed with six points.


A TEENAGER caught driving without insurance has been handed a large fine.

Hano Karem, of Warrior Square East, Southend, was driving in Ivy House Road, Dagenham, when there was no insurance in force covering his Vauxhall car on July 14, Bromley Magistrates’ Court heard.

The offence was proved via the single justice procedure on Wednesday, February 7.

The 18-year-old has now been fined £660, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £264 and prosecution costs of £110.

His driving record was endorsed with six points.


A LEARNER driver who was caught speeding in a major road has been banned from driving for a year.

Malcom Roberts, of Town Square, Basildon, was driving a Peugeot Bipper van on the A12 in Romford when he was caught speeding at 73 miles per hour. The limit is 50.

The van was fitted with a tyre which had the ply or cord exposed and found to have defective brakes. The 55-year-old was also driving without L plates.

Roberts was fined £660 and banned from driving for a year at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on February 6.

He must also pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £264 and costs of £110.


A speeding driver has been fined more than £100 after being caught four miles per hour above the speed limit.

Neil Smithies, of The Redinge, Billericay, was driving a Toyota Hilux in Broad Lane by Stamford Road, in South Tottenham, when he was found speeding at 24 miles per hour on July 21, Willesden Magistrates’ Court. The limit is 20.

The 63-year-old admitted the offence via the single justice procedure on February 7.

 He has now been ordered to pay £215 in a fine and costs and had his driving record endorsed with three points.

Smithies must also pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £46.


A speeding driver caught above a 20 miles per hour limit has been fined almost £300.

Mark Waller, of Kents Hill Road, Benfleet, was driving a Land Rover in Blackfriars Underpass when he was recorded at a speed exceeding 20 miles per hour, Bromley Magistrates’ Court heard.

The 38-year-old admitted the offence via the single justice procedure last Friday and was fined £293.

He must also pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £117 and costs of £110.

His driving record was also endorsed with four penalty points following the conviction.


A SOUTHEND man who was caught engaged in street trading near Wembley Stadium without a licence has been ordered to pay more than £1,000.

Darren Doogdan, of Lovelace Avenue, was found in South Way, Wembley, without a street trading licence or a temporary licence on December 1.

The offence was proved in Doogan’s absence at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, February 15.

The 52-year-old has now been handed a fine of £300, and was ordered to pay costs of £842.

He must also pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £120.


A MAN caught selling scarves outside a major station without a licence has been ordered to pay almost £1,000 in a fine and costs.

Darren Lewis, of Appletree Way, Wickford, had the scarves for sale outside Wembley Central Station on December 1 when he was not a holder of a street trading licence or a temporary licence.

The offence was proved in his absence at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, February 15.

The 39-year-old has now been fined £100 and costs of £842. He was also ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £40.


A SPEEDING luxury car driver who was caught six miles per hour above the limit has been handed a fine.

Peter Edwards, Turold Road, Stanford-le-Hope, was driving a BMW in Poynters Road, Luton, when he was recorded speeding at 36 miles per hour on June 27. The speed limit is 30.

The 55-year-old admitted the offence at Luton and South Bedfordshire Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

He has now been handed a fine of £66 and ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34.

His licence was also endorsed with three points.


A MOTORCYLIST who was found riding on a major road when his number plate was too small has been hit with a fine.

Chris Levy, of New Waverley Road, Noak Bridge, Basildon, was riding on the A12 in Redbridge when the number plate on his BMW motorcycle was found to be too small, Bromley Magistrates’ Court heard.

The 39-year-old admitted driving a vehicle when the registration mark fails to conform with regulations via the single justice procedure on February 14.
Levy has now been fined £133.

He must also pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £53 and costs of £110.


A driver who failed to stop and give his details after a High Street crash has been handed a fine and points.

Alan Isaac, 43, of Codenham Straight, Basildon, was driving a Ford Ranger in Shoreditch High Street when he failed to stop and give his name and address and that of the owner, and the identification marks of the car, after a crash on May 15, Stratford Magistrates’ Court heard.

He admitted to driving without due care and attention but denied failing to stop and give his details on December 11.

Isaac was found guilty this month and fined £675 and ordered to pay prosecution costs of £625 and a surcharge of £270.

He was handed nine penalty points for driving without due care and attention.
 


A SPEEDING driver caught nine miles per hour above the limit on the A13 has been banned from the roads for half a year for repeat offending.

Damien Edwards, 46, of Northumberland Crescent, Southend, was driving a Mercedes Vito near Gale Street, in Dagenham, when he was recorded doing 59 miles per hour, Lavender Hill Magistrates’ Court heard.

The limit is 50. 

He admitted the offence on Monday, February 12, and was fined £38, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £15 and costs of £90.

A commuter caught without a valid £21.20 train ticket has been fined more than £200.


Sylwia Put, of St Anns Road, Southend, was travelling at London St Pancras on August 21 when she had failed to hand over a ticket for inspection when asked to do so, Barkingside Magistrates’ Court heard.

The offence was proved via the single justice procedure on Monday, February 12.
The 30-year-old has now been fined £220.

She must also pay compensation of £21.20, a surcharge to fund victim services of £88 and prosecution costs of £135.


A speeding driver caught 28 miles per hour above the limit has been handed a large fine.

Thomas Campbell, of Hart Road, Thundersley, was driving a Renault Clio in North Cray Road, Bexley, when he was caught speeding at 68 miles per hour, Willesden Magistrates’ Court heard. The limit is 40.

He admitted the offence via the single justice procedure on February 9.

The 24-year-old has now been fined £376, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £150 and costs of £100.

His driving record was also endorsed with six points.
