An historic RAF military aircraft is set to land at Southend Airport today with aviation enthusiasts encouraged to get their cameras ready.

The south Essex airport will see a Spitfire aircraft arriving soon for a series of circuits.

A spokesman for Southend Airport said: "Eyes to the sky! Spitfire inbound for a series of circuits. Grab your cameras and point them up."

The Spitfire is an iconic British fighter aircraft used by the RAF before, during, and after the Second World War. It was critical in defeating Luftwaffe air attacks during the Battle of Britain in 1940.

There are six Spitfires on the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
