A GANG of men attacked a woman with a crowbar before “holding her son at knife point” during a terrifying break-in.

The woman, who has been left covered in bruises and shaken since the incident, revealed the men burst into her home in the early hours of the morning before “throwing liquid” in her face.

The victim, and her son, are now looking to move as soon as possible as they fear they will “never feel safe” in their home in the Manor Court flats, in Woodgrange Drive, Southend.

Essex Police has launched an urgent appeal for information following the incident and specialist officers are supporting the victim.

The victim, who has asked not to be named, has claimed three men dressed in black “kicked her front door down”.

She added: “They attacked me with a crowbar and threw some liquid in my face. The third one held a knife up at my son”.

Speaking to the Echo, she said: “Myself and my son are traumatised by the attack. We just want justice and have all three men caught for their actions.

“We are now on the path to moving as we will never feel safe in our home again.”

The incident took place at roughly 3.30am on March 7.

Police confirmed they attended the address and a woman reported that three men had broken into her house, sprayed her with a substance and assaulted her.

Detective Inspector Steve Franklin of Southend CID said: “We are investigating this incident and are urgently appealing for anyone with information to get in touch to help us with our enquiries.

“We understand how concerning reports of an assault like this would be to the community. We are thoroughly investigating the incident itself and specialist officers are supporting the victim.”
