A MAJOR road near Rayleigh Weir was temporarily halted this morning due to an animal on the loose.
Traffic on the A127 Southend bound at Rayleigh Weir was stopped at around 8am this morning.
This was following reports of a dog on the loose.
Residents took to social media to report seeing a Golden Retriever / Labrador type dog running down the A127.
It is believed Essex Police attended and halted the traffic whilst attempts were made to catch the loose dog.
According to unconfirmed reports, the dog is now safe.
But Essex Police has been contacted for comment by the Echo for confirmation and further details.
