TWO events have been announced where you can witness the Vulcan aircraft in action at Southend Airport.

The Vulcan Restoration Trust and Southend Airport have announced tickets are now on sale for two taxi-run events this year.

Visitors will have an uninterrupted view while the Vulcan XL426 carries out the taxi-runs on the Southend Airport runway.

The first event is the Vulcan Twilight Taxi-Run which will take place on the evening of Saturday, May 18.

This will start at 6pm to allow visitors to soak up the atmosphere and see the XL426 being prepared for the event. The engine is then scheduled to start at 8:30pm.

The XL426 will carry out two taxi-runs, the second pass at high-speed as the sun dips below the horizon.

The Vulcan will then taxi back to shut down engines in front of the enclosure, which gives uninterrupted views across the airport.

The second event is the Vulcan Summer Taxi-Run which will see the XL426 power down the runway on Saturday, September 7.

Gates will open at 11:30am and the taxi-run will start at 1pm.

Visitors are again urged to arrive early to be able to soak up the atmosphere.

Teas and coffees will be on sale throughout both events and there will be a licensed bar too.

Admission to each event is £50 for adults and £20 for under-16s (must be over six years of age.
