SOUTHEND Airport has confirmed it will be re-opening its popular airport pub following a three-year closure.

The Navigator, which has remained closed for several years following the Covid-19 pandemic, will open its doors from May.

The popular airport pub will be open to passengers in tandem with the start of the summer flying schedule.

The launch will feature a brand-new summer menu, focusing on pub classics, in a comfortable yet contemporary environment to the rear of the Departures terminal.

A spokesman for London Southend Airport said: “We are thrilled to be reopening The Navigator this summer; it is a welcome development for both staff and passengers alike at London Southend, some of whom will remember its resounding popularity prior to the pandemic.

“More importantly, it has allowed us to create more than twelve job opportunities across our customer service teams, underscoring our commitment to growth as a major employer within the community.

“We look forward to seeing our team grow as we embark on this new phase of our pathway towards recovery.”

The menu for the Navigator is yet to be revealed.

At Southend Airport, there is also the Skylife Lounge, which is currently managed as a temporary pop-up facility within The Pilot Bar.

This will now also resume operation in its dedicated location away from the bustle of the main Departures area.

The two eateries, The Navigator and Skylife, will be open on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday afternoons from up to three hours before a scheduled departure time.

Skylife Lounge at The Pilot Bar will continue to provide a luxury service within a private section of the bar every morning, and for afternoon flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

The phased reopening is aligned with the airport’s current flight schedule. Southend Airport now currently has 11 different destinations on offer, its biggest offering since the pandemic.
