Check out this week's selection of adorable Dogs Trust Basildon pups looking for loving homes, including two spaniels and an akita.

Bex, a Retriever (Labrador) Cross

Echo: BexBex (Image: Dogs Trust)

Bex is a one-year-old Labrador who arrived at the centre without much knowledge of her previous history.

She can be left alone for up to four hours, built up over time while she settles into her new home. She will need some training around travelling in the car.

Once Bex gets to know people, she is a super playful and lovely girl. Her favourite toy is to play with tennis balls - and she loves learning new skills.

Bex loves her treats, so this will work as a great tool to build a bond with her. She is a beautiful girl with lots of love to give.

Cody, a Cocker Spaniel Cross

Echo: CodyCody (Image: Dogs Trust)

Cody is an energetic lad who is looking for an adult-only, active, and rural home with owners who ideally have experience of the spaniel breed.

This little whirlwind will need his new owners to be patient and committed to ongoing training, as Cody needs to be super stimulated both mentally and physically, especially with a ball or a toy.

He can be vocal and slightly distressed when left alone, so leaving hours will need to be built up over a period of time. Cody has showed guarding behaviours so care will need to be taken around high value toys and food.

Ongoing training and guidance will be with the help of the centre's training and behaviour team, which will include guarding, being around strangers, dog reactivity, being at the vets' and grooming. Cody does have to be kept on a lead and muzzled when out on walks.

Susie, a lurcher

Echo: SusieSusie (Image: Dogs Trust)

Susie is a lovely girl who is full of character and loves exploring outdoors. She likes to sniff and enjoys her walks.

She is not used to car travel but her love for tasty snacks is also an effective way to build a relationship with her and continue her training. She can also become "mouthy" when she is overstimulated and over-handled, so new owners will need to take things slowly.

Dogs Trust's training and behaviourist team will be on hand to discuss her training needs. Susie will be a rewarding rehome experience for a dedicated family which will encourage her to be the best dog she can be.

Susie has not experienced much car travel, so she will need some ongoing car training.

Kiara, an Akita

Echo: KiaraKiara (Image: Dogs Trust)

Kiara is an all-round bundle of joy who will give any family so much love.

Her love for a tasty snack is also an effective way to build a relationship with her and continue her training in her new home. Kiara is okay to be left alone for short periods of time, which will need to be built up slowly.

She has not experienced much car travel so she will need some ongoing car training.

This super little girl will reward her new family with so much love and happiness.

Stan, an English Springer Spaniel

Echo: StanStan (Image: Dogs Trust)

Stan is ready to find his forever home. He is looking for an adult-only home.

He must live with two neutered, fully-vaccinated dogs who can tolerate his playful side - pending a successful dog introduction at the Dogs Trust centre. This is due to his nervous nature and he relies on dogs to bring out him out of his shell.

His new owners must live near the centre and be able to bring him back for regular hydrotherapy appointments, as he will need ongoing treatment in his new home. Stan will need all his basic training and housetraining. Understanding of spaniel breed traits is desirable as they are high-energy dogs.
