AN overnight closure in part of a busy Southend city centre road is among seven new public notices in south Essex this week.

London Road is set to shut from its junction with College Way to outside HSBC in the city centre from 10.30pm on Wednesday, March 27 until 5am on Thursday, March 28.

While the closure is in place, cars will be unable to park, stop, load, unload and wait in this section of the major road.

This will be in force while BT desilting works take place.

Another road closure will be in place in the city on Wednesday next week.

Glenmore Street is set to be closed from its junction with Hamstel Road to its junction with Moseley Street. Residents access will be maintained where possible.

The diversion route will be via Hamstel Road, Stornoway Road and Moseley Street and vice versa.

This is while Tree Fella will be carrying out tree maintenance works.

A road in Leigh will be closing for more than a week while BT works are taking place.

Hadleigh Road is set to shut from its junction with Rectory Grove and Leigh Park Road from 8am on Monday until 5pm on Tuesday, April 2.

While this is in place, one-way traffic will be suspended from its junction with Leigh Park Road to New Road.

The alternative route will be via New Road, Belton Way East, Rectory Grove and vice versa.

 

Plans have been unveiled to transform part of a High Street building into ten new apartments.

An application has been submitted to Basildon Council to convert the first and second floors of Unique House, at 147 High Street in Billericay, from offices to eight one-bed and two two-bed apartments.

These plans are open to feedback until March 31.

A scheme has also been revealed to build dozens of homes alongside a new sheltered housing facility in Billericay.

Developers have submitted plans to Basildon Council for 32 new homes and a 30-unit sheltered housing facility in land to the west of Heath Close.

Plans also include associated access and a pumping station.

Residents have until March 31 to comment on these plans.

A surface car park could be removed for new homes to be built in Billericay High Street.

Plans have been unveiled for the proposed removal of the car park at 89 High Street to enable the construction of two semi-detached houses with associated landscaping, parking and refuse storage.

These plans are open to feedback until March 31.

A popular high street pub has submitted a retrospective application for an "invaluable" marquee and fencing built during the pandemic.

The marquee at The Crown, in Billericay High Street, was put up in a previous "problematic car park" and has proven invaluable to the pub, according to the planning statement.

The fencing follows the boundary along Crown Road, along which a wall had previously stood.

Any representations relating to the application must be made by March 31.
