BRANCHES of a UK bakery chain have been forced to shut due to an IT problem, or go cash-only.
Greggs operates around 50 branches in Essex - including six in Basildon and four in Southend.
However, stores are closed around the country, after an issue with card payments was found.
A statement from Greggs said: "We are currently experiencing issues accepting payments in our shops.
"We are working to resolve this as soon as possible."
