A FIRE has broken out on the 8th floor within a Southend city centre tower block.
Photos show smoke billowing from the Quantock flats in Southend.
Emergency services are on the scene, and Essex Police have closed Chichester Road whilst the fire is dealt with.
At this stage, the Echo understands it is a fire on the 8th floor within a laundry room.

It is also believed the building is currently. being evacuated.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We are currently assisting Essex Fire and Rescue at the scene of a fire in Southend.
“Officers were called to support with road closures on Chichester Road in Southend shortly after midday today.”
Essex Fire and the East of England Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment by the Echo.
