THE owner of a business locked in a long-running dispute over noise has revealed it is relocating entirely in a bid to become a thriving late night venue.

Twelve Brunch and Cocktails, formerly based in Clifftown Road, Southend, has had its licensed threatened and has faced multiple licensing reviews after complaints from a nearby resident over noise.

Now, the bar’s owner Christopher Brown, 40, has revealed he is relocating the bar to Alexandra Street and will be applying for a live music licence.

The bar will be replacing the former Baker’s Bar, which has been closed since 2020, next to the old Element nightclub.

Twelve will join a number of new businesses, including the new Moonlight Bar and Restaurant and a virtual golf bar – called Bunker 19 – which is opening next door.

Mr Brown said: “We want to be known now as an exciting bar, much like Revolution Southend, we would prefer that over being known as a brunch location though our brunch parties will remain.

“We will be open to anyone for walk-ins over the age of 21, we will be able to operate as an events space so we can book guests from everywhere.

“We are also hoping to apply for a live music license. Ensuring everything is well we should be able to obtain it.”

Despite applying for a music licence, Mr Brown insisted the new bar “will not become a nightclub”.

He added that it is his intention to work closely with Bunker 19 to try to promote the area and create a vision similar to the Brighton Lanes.

He said: “We want that Brighton Lanes feeling and we will be joining forces with Bunker 19 to promote the area and complement the area.

“The site we have moved into has been empty for years and we have revived it, we have also had a mural done to fit the look of the area.

“19 Alexandra Street is also double the size of our former venue and it has wheelchair access. It will be a very arty and exciting place.”

The new Twelve Brunch and Cocktails will be hosting a grand opening this Saturday to celebrate the move.
