A SOUTH Essex rail firm has announced timetable changes from this summer with the number of off-peak services doubled.

Details have been published today of changes to the c2c timetable from Sunday, June 2, with an increase in off-peak services between Shoebury and London Fenchurch Street.

The amended timetable, which includes two new weekday morning peak services from Shoebury to Fenchurch Street, will see two additional off-peak services running every hour in both directions between the two stations.

The added services means that many stations on the c2c route will provide customers with a regular, four trains per hour, 15-minute service.

Commenting on the changes, c2c’s managing director, Rob Mullen, said: “We continually review and monitor our passenger numbers, frequency and times of services and train capacities to ensure that we operate an efficient and reliable service which meets the needs of customers.

“Our scheduling teams keep a close eye on passenger movements and changing travel patterns, and I am delighted that we are in a position where we can introduce two additional morning peak services, while also doubling the number of off-peak services we run between Fenchurch Street and Shoebury - via Basildon - each Monday to Friday.

“The increase in the frequency of off-peak services - back to four trains per hour – means that many of our customers will have access to an additional 190 services each week.”
