Easter is a holiday best enjoyed with family - and what better activity to do on Easter than a classic egg-hunt?

Here is a list of the five best Easter egg hunt events across south Essex - for you and your family to enjoy over the holiday season. 

Southend: Pier Easter Egg Hunt 

Come along to Southend Pier on Monday April 1 to take part in an easter egg hunt event.

Activity sheets, priced at £2.50 per child, plus usual Southend Pier admission prices, can be collected when you arrive at the pier.

Once you have completed you activity sheet, go to the Offshore bar and restaurant to collect your prize.

The event takes place Monday April 1 between 10.15am and 4pm.

Southend: Easter Eggtravaganza 

This event, held in Southchurch Hall Gardens, on Sunday between 11am and 3pm, will see an easter bonnet parade, scavenger egg hunt, arts and crafts, traditional games and much more. The "eggstravaganza" is held by the Southchurch Hall Inspirational Parkers group. 

Leigh: Easter Fayre 

Join the Leigh Lions club for their Easter fayre on Saturday between 12pm and 3pm in the Leigh Community Centre. 

With stalls, home-made cakes, children's Easter-themed activities and an "egg-scape" room, there will be plenty of fun to entertain the family, alongside a scavenger hunt.

Free entry is available for the general fayre with £4 adult tickets and £2 child tickets for the "egg-scape" room. 

Southend: Belfairs Easter in the Woods

Held at the Belfairs nature discovery centre, on Wednesday April 3 between 10am and 12pm, step into the outdoors as the woodland is transformed for a day filled with family-friendly fun including an easter egg hunt, easter theme natural crafts, nature hat parade, games and more.

Prizes include a small chocolate prize.

Sessions are aimed at primary aged children, who must be accompanied by and adult. Booking in advance is essential.

Southend: Ironworks Easter Party

Join the Ironworks in Southend High Street for a kids club afternoon of fun.

Face painting, arts and crafts, singing, dancing, and easter bonnet competition and more will be on offer, with £5 charged a ticket.
