British Netflix and Amazon Prime star Chance Perdomo has sadly died at the age of 27 following a motorcycle crash.

The news was confirmed by the Southampton-raised actor's family in a statement on Saturday.

They said: "His passion for the arts and insatiable appetite for life was felt by all who knew him."

The family added: "His warmth will carry on in those who he loved dearest. We ask you to please respect the family's wish for privacy as they mourn the loss of their beloved son and brother."

Chance is well-known for playing Andre Anderson in Amazon Prime Video's Gen V alongside Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, Maddie Phillips and London Thor. 

The show's producer issued a statement regarding the sad death, writing: "We can't quite wrap our heads around this. For those of us who knew him and worked with him, Chance was always charming and smiling, an enthusiastic force of nature, an incredibly talented performer, and more than anything else, just a very kind, lovely person. Even writing about him in the past tense doesn’t make sense."

They added: "We are so sorry for Chance’s family, and we are grieving the loss of our friend and colleague. Hug your loved ones tonight."

A spokesperson for Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television said: The entire Gen V family is devastated by the sudden passing of Chance Perdomo. Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television extend our heartfelt thoughts and support to Chance’s family and all who loved him at this difficult time."

Fans of the Amazon and Netflix star rushed to share their thoughts over Chance's passing with one writing: "Rest in peace Chance Perdomo life is to short sad that we will never get to see him live out his dream of playing Miles Morales."

Another said: "Chance Perdomo... this one isn’t sitting right with me for some reason. From watching you become the role of Ambrose on chilling adventures, to taking in the role in the after series, and then the start of gen v as Andre I’m gonna miss seeing you on my screen."

A third person added: "May Chance Perdomo rest in peace. I’m devastated with this unbelievable news that is so heart broken indescribable sad news. Such a talented young man, he will be very missed! My prayers to his family and friends."

The actor has also starred in other programmes such as Netflix's The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and was nominated for a BAFTA for his role in the BBC Three drama Killed By My Debt.
