NEW food hygiene ratings have been awarded to ten south Essex establishments; the Food Standards Agency’s website shows.

The scheme gives businesses a rating from five to zero, with five being hygiene standards are very good, and zero being urgent improvement is required.

Here are the establishments in south Essex that have been awarded a new hygiene rating:

Southend:

Cafe O'Portugues at Portuguese Cafe, 55 - 57 Hamlet Court Road, Westcliff was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on March 21.

Great Tides at Westcliff Hotel, 18 - 20 Westcliff Parade, Westcliff was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on March 12.

The Three Shells At Sealife Adventure at The Three Shells, Sea Life Adventure Centre, Eastern Esplanade, Southend was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on February 29.

Blaq Caesarz at 368 London Road, Westcliff was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on March 24.

Subway at 85 Prince Avenue, Southend was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on January 15.

Bake at 6 Manners Corner, Manners Way, Southend was handed a four-out-of-five rating after assessment on February 22.

Gulshan Tandoori at 266 Sutton Road, Southend was handed a four-out-of-five rating after assessment on February 22.

Kazi's Kitchen / Mexican Burritto at 26 Southchurch Road, Southend was handed a four-out-of-five rating after assessment on February 22.

Khan Tandoori Restaurant at 16 High Street, Shoeburyness, Southend was handed a four-out-of-five rating after assessment on February 22.

Mendip Community Group at 150 Bridgwater Drive, Westcliff was handed a four-out-of-five rating after assessment on February 22.
