BUMPER cars have been unveiled at a crazy golf business on Southend High Street which bosses believe is a “totally unique attraction” in the area.
Caddies threw open its doors seven years ago as a crazy golf bar but has expanded its offering since with the likes of shuffle board, a huge illuminated ball pit and comedy nights.
Now, its latest attraction has opened in the form of “battle bumper cars” – a twist on the classic fairground staple that offers interactive scoring, power boosters and team-based games.
The bumper car attraction was launched on Friday and feature a team-based game that sees guests score points for bumping into each other while defending their team mates.
Director, George Bejko-Cowlbeck, believes the bumper cars are totally unique to Caddies and will help to draw visitors from outside the city, eager to take part in the fun.
Mr Bejko-Cowlbeck said: “As far as we know, this is one of the most unique takes on the bumper car concept, the cars we are using are the Rolls-Royces of the bumper car world.
“Like with how we reimagined the ball pit for our Amazeballs ball pit, we have ‘gamified’ the bumper cars for a twist, and we will be adding more, this is just the start.
“Driving one of these is really addictive, the cars are really fun to handle if you like being spun. They are high-end, unique and just different.”
Mr Bejko-Cowlbeck added that the bumper cars, similar to the ball pit, are helping the business “stay ahead of the game” and innovate their offering so they thrive.
“When we did crazy golf seven years ago, almost no-on else was doing that in Essex, as far as I am aware,” he added.
“It was a huge thing, and we don’t copy, we innovate and think about how we can be original and different.
“It helps bring people into Southend and we get people from all over. We are constantly dynamic and anyone who is a regular knows that there is something new and different.
“We have a few ideas, as ever, for what we are doing next, but we have amazeballs and battle bumper cars for now.”
One battle on the bumper cars costs £3.50 or two battles for £5, with a maximum of six drivers being able to take part in each battle.
