REPORTS of a firearm seen in a car near a Sainsbury's superstore sparked a police chase yesterday.
Essex Police officers were alerted to reports of a firearm being seen in a vehicle in Burghley Road, Chafford Hundred, near the supermarket and close to the Lakeside shopping centre and retail parks area, at around 3pm yesterday.
The vehicle was followed and eventually stopped by officers in London Road, Grays, at around 5pm.

An Essex Police spokesman commented: "Officers were alerted to reports of a firearm being seen in a vehicle in Burghley Road, Chafford Hundred, at around 3pm yesterday.
"The vehicle was followed and stopped by officers in London Road, Grays, at around 5pm.
"No firearm was recovered and our enquiries continue."
