AN HISTORIC bomber will be thundering down Southend Airport's runway for its first high-speed taxi run of the year.

Visitors will get uninterrupted views across the airport as the Vulcan XL426 carries out two taxi-runs next month, with the second pass at high-speed.

The Vulcan will then taxi back to shut down engines in front of the enclosure.

Attendees are encouraged to arrive from 6pm on Saturday, May 18, to soak up the atmosphere and see the aircraft being prepared for the evening's event.

The engine start is scheduled for 8.30 pm.

Teas and coffees will be on sale throughout the evening and aviation enthusiasts will be able to grab drinks from a licensed bar.

Adult tickets cost £50 and under-16s cost £15, with Vulcan Restoration Trust members paying £25.
