POLICE have issued a statement after a large police presence was seen with a helicopter circling Shoebury.
Residents reported seeing a police helicopter circling around parts of the town including Ness Road, Elm Road and Eagle Way, with officers also spotted on foot in the High Street and around Ravendale Way and Bulwark Road.
Initial reports posted to social media claimed a police helicopter was spotted hovering round Eagle Way, Shoebury, with it moving over the town for over more than three hours.

An Essex Police spokesman has now confirmed officers were in the area as part of an ongoing investigation.
They commented: "Officers were in the Shoebury area today in connection with an ongoing investigation into stolen vehicles.
"Our enquiries continue."
