ROADWORKS between Tarpots and Sadlers Farm are now set to start Monday after delay.

The works, which are due to last until July 4, 2024, will run Westbound, between Tarpots and Sadlers Farm.

As a result of the works by Essex and Suffolk Water, there will be a single lane closure.

Andrew Sheldon, Essex County Council councillor responsible for South Benfleet, confirmed the start date of the works have been delayed until Monday.

They were originally planned to start today.

The works are to replace a section of mains pipe with a new connection to allow the main that goes across Tarpots junction itself to be shut off.

This is to help prevent any further burst water mains on the junction itself.

Mr Sheldon said: “Essex and Suffolk Water are now delayed the works until Monday morning.

“I rang up Essex and Suffolk Water this morning to ask when the works were going to start this morning, only to be told they took the decision yesterday to delay the works until after the Cadent works at Essex Way are completed.

“Although this is welcome some notice would have been nice.

“Please allow extra time for journeys out of Benfleet via Sadlers Farm.

“Just to reassure residents I will be keeping a close eye on these works and will keep the pressure on Essex and Suffolk Water to get them done and off the road as quickly as they safely can.”
