LONDON Marathon runners from south Essex have one less thing to worry about thanks to the generosity of railway bosses.

Essex train operator c2c has announced that it will be providing free travel across its network for anyone taking on the iconic 26.2-mile race on Sunday.

To claim a free return ticket, runners just need to present their race bib or medal to c2c staff at both their departure and arrival stations.

Managing director Rob Mullen said: “I am delighted to announce that we will once again be offering free travel across the c2c route to all those taking part in this year’s London Marathon.

“This is our little way of saying ‘thank you’ to the thousands of heroes who will be taking on the gruelling 26.2-mile course and raising vital funds and awareness for the many great and deserving charities they represent.”
