NEW food hygiene ratings have been awarded to eight south Essex establishments; the Food Standards Agency’s website shows.

The scheme gives businesses a rating from five to zero, with five being hygiene standards are very good, and zero being urgent improvement is required.

Here are the establishments in south Essex that have been awarded a new hygiene rating:

Southend:

The Leigh Chippy at 186 Leigh Road, Leigh was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on March 28.

12th Street Burgers & Shakes at 99 High Street; Southend was handed a four-out-of-five rating after assessment on March 6.

Suk Thai Kitchen To Go at 458b Southchurch Road, Southend was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on March 28.

Kingfisher at 476 - 478 Southchurch Road, Southend was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on March 25.

French's Seafood at French'S Seafoods, Pier Arches 17, Pier Approach, Western Esplanade was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on April 2.

Room Service Hub at 1745 London Road, Leigh was handed a three-out-of-five rating after assessment on April 9.

McCoys Fish And Chips at 6 Asda Centre, Frobisher Way, Shoebury was handed a three-out-of-five rating after assessment on March 6.

The Waterfront Cafe at Waterfront Cafe, Pier Arches 18 To 20, Pier Approach, Western Esplanade was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on April 2.
