A MAN has taken a quantity of cash after acting aggressively to the staff at a south Essex Post Office. 

Essex Police say they responded to reports of a robbery at the Post Office, Civic Square, in Tilbury, at around 3pm yesterday.

It was reported that a man entered the building and was acting aggressively to the staff. He was reported to be carrying a small axe.

He left the location with a quantity of cash and was last seen heading towards Kelvin Road area.

Thankfully, no one was injured.

Essex Police say the suspect was described as a white man, of medium build. He was wearing a black top with a white graphic logo, grey joggers and grey beanie with the top's hood up. He was also wearing a blue face covering.

Officers are looking for any witnesses to come forward to help identify the suspect. 

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "Detectives investigating a robbery in Tilbury are asking for the public’s help.

"We would ask anyone who witnessed anything that could help us identify the man, to get in contact.

"If you have any information, CCTV, dash cam or other footage in relation to this incident, then please get in contact with us.

"Please quote incident 758 of Monday 15 April when providing any information to make sure it gets to the right person as quickly as possible."
