A pensioner on crutches has been left needing hospital treatment after a hit-and-run near a popular Essex attraction.

Police were called to Marsh Farm Road yesterday, shortly after 12.45pm, following reports of a crash involving a pedestrian and a car.

A woman in her 70s, who was using crutches at the time, was walking along the road when the incident, near the popular Marsh Farm Animal Adventure Park, took place.

She suffered injuries to her arm and leg and required hospital treatment.

The car failed to stop at the scene and enquiries are ongoing to identify this driver.

Police are now appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage.

An Essex Police spokesman said: "We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision, have footage or any further information to contact us, quoting incident number 0528 of 14 April. "
