HIGH Wycombe MP has revealed he triggered his security device after being followed and filmed by a pro-Palestinian activist.

Steve Baker, used his SOS device for the first time during a potentially volatile confrontation in Wycombe on Saturday, April 27.

A local man approached him about the issue of Gaza, prompting Baker to prepare for a possible escalation.

Despite his unease, he confirmed the gentleman kept his distance and made no threats but he felt threatened to press his panic button.

Mr Baker posted a video on YouTube on Saturday of an exchange he had on the streets of his High Wycombe constituency with a male activist apparently from a group called Partners for Palestine.

The video posted by Mr Baker shows the activist keeping his distance but hurling invective at the MP over the fact he had not voted for a ceasefire in Gaza.

“You’re a genocidal supporting MP, you’re an extremist, you’re a racist,” the man says.

“High Wycombe won’t be tainted by the blood of the murder of the Palestinian people, and this is what you’re promoting literally.”

In the video, Baker addressed the protestor whilst filming himself. He said: "The reason I need to walk around town with this button is that whilst you plainly are just following me around with this I have to assume the situation could escalate and that's why I have pressed the button.

"Unfortunately the number of death threats we get and the situation today when we receive multiple death threats when we've got somebody like this, whose chains of logic are not reasonable, who's stating matters which are disputed as if they were facts, who feels as strongly as he does to have chased us down like this, the reality is I've pressed the button on the security device and I'll publish this video later.

"I think people just have to make their own minds up what kind of politics they want."

He later addressed in his post.

"Please vote Conservative at the election and I'll be glad to continue serving you and the causes of moderation and good government," urged Baker.

An SOS device is a small, lightweight and compact lone worker protection device with a large SOS panic button that links directly to an alarm receiving centre.

It is simple to use, with a number of accessories that are designed to ensure the device works always around your job role.
