A RENOWNED art duo have been spotted by passengers "filming" at Thorpe Bay station this morning.

Artists Gilbert & George, who are well-known for bright graphic-style artwork and their formal appearance in performance art, were seen with a camera crew at the c2c station today.

Commuters reported spotting the collaborators as early as 7.10am in their trademark suits.

Gilbert Prousch and George Passmore have received widespread acclaim and dozens of notable honours over the years, with the late superstar David Bowie once being a collector of their work

It is unclear what they were filming at the station today, but c2c has been contacted for further comment.

This comes after A-List Hollywood actor Andrew Garfield - best known for his role as the Amazing Spider-Man - was seen taking part in filming at Greater Anglia's Southend Victoria station earlier this month.

While it was also unconfirmed what the filming was, it sparked excitement among residents and councillors who claimed the city can offer a "lifeline to the creative industries".
