THE husband and wife behind a clothes embroidery business have expanded to sell school uniform after a beloved Southend shop closed its doors.

Brand Identity, in Stock Road, Southend, has transformed its showroom into a school uniform shop and is already working with a number of primary schools in the city.

After 15 years specialising in workwear, printing, and embroidery, Dave and Louise Jacobs have expanded their offering to help parents and schools left without a supplier following the closure of Pauls School and Work Wear.

Pauls School and Workwear, in Southchurch Road, has been selling branded south Essex school and plain uniforms, as well as general work gear since 1975 but closed earlier this year – leaving parents devastated.

Dave and Louise, both born in Southend, originally opened their business in 2010 and are hoping that linking up with schools and parents could bring many more years of success.

Mrs Jacob said: “We have always been working with schools and made things like leavers’ hoodies for them, but we have now started to work on school uniforms for primary schools, too.”

The business added a new area of expertise during April and has already welcomed its first customers.

The business currently offers Hamstel Junior School uniforms, as well as uniform for Sacred Heart Primary School, Leigh North Street School, Hamstel Infant School and Nursery, and Bournemouth Park Academy.

“It seems to be going great, from what we have seen so far,” said Mrs Jacobs.

“We’ve sent out a couple of emails to schools, and a number of schools have signed up to our service already.

“The schools just send us their logo and their uniform list for us to get started.

“We haven’t marketed it a lot as of yet and we want to see how it goes over the summer.”

Following the launch of their uniform services, the family-run business is looking to expand to secondary schools and colleges in the near future.
