1. The Fox and Hounds, in Billericay:

This pub is rated five out of five on TripAdvisor and was part of the Travellers’ Choice 2023.

It is a site that has served the villages in the area for more than 200 years.

In 2017, the pub underwent a huge refurbishment updating the bar, kitchen, and garden.

TripAdvisor reviews say the garden is large and welcoming.

One states: “A very nice welcoming pub with a good-sized garden”.

Another added: “Always a good day or night in the beer garden.”

2. The Royal Oak, in Rochford:

This pub is rated 4.5 out of five on TripAdvisor and is also part of the Travellers’ Choice 2023.

It is set in the countryside and has the “charm and character of a classic British pub”.

Not only does it have delicious food but there is a wide-ranging drinks menu.

TripAdvisor reviews say: “Fantastic pub with a great beer garden. Food was superb and staff were very welcoming and helpful.  

Another adds: “There is a lovely pub garden with a play area for the children. A great space for all the family.”

3. Hoop at Stock

This traditional pub serves hearty meals in a 15th-century building with brick fireplaces.

This pub is rated 4.5 out of five on TripAdvisor and is also part of the Travellers’ Choice 2023 and has an "enormous" beer garden.

A TripAdvisor review says: "Enjoyed our Sunday in the sun trap of the garden. Generous portions (in particular for the kids) of appetising dishes. Good selection of ales."

Another added: "We sat outside in their stunning garden and enjoyed our bank holiday Monday meal. Attentive and friendly staff and beautiful meal."

4. The Hawk, in Battlesbridge:

Described as a premium pub, bar and restaurant, the Hawk is based in the picturesque village of Battlesbridge.

Punters can also sit outside and enjoy some fresh air in the front garden with a pint in the sun with its spacious beer garden.

One TripAdvisor reviewer described: “A return visit to a local favourite. Such a nice suntrap of a front garden full of different seating.”

Another adds: “Eliza was great and very friendly. Good service and very friendly staff. Great beer garden - worth a visit.”
