A MAN has been seriously injured after a crash involving two cars and a van at a major roundabout in Essex. 

Officers were called to the scene of a three-vehicle crash on the A132 at the Rettendon Turnpike roundabout at 8:30am on Sunday. 

Police say  two cars were in crash at the roundabout and then one of the cars was in a crash with the van on the opposite carriageway as a result.

One driver, aged in his 80s, was seriously injured. 

The road was closed for several hours while emergency services worked at the scene.

Essex Police are now appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage. 

A spokesman said: "We are appealing for any dashcam footage or witnesses to a serious collision in Rettendon on Sunday, May 12.

"At about 8.30am, we were called to the scene of a three-vehicle collision involving two cars and a van on the A132 at the Rettendon Turnpike roundabout.

"One driver, aged in his 80s, was seriously injured. Those injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

"We are now asking anyone who witnessed this incident or has dashcam footage from the area at around the time of the collision to get in touch.

"If you can help, please contact us quoting incident number 0292 of Sunday, May 12."
