A much-loved pub hoping to stay open later is among six new public notices across south Essex this week.

Ei Group Limited has submitted an application to Basildon Council for a variation of the premises licence for Castlemayne, at The Knares in Basildon.

The proposed licensable activities include the supply of alcohol and provision of regulated entertainment, which includes sporting events, live music and recorded music, Mondays to Wednesdays between the hours of 7am and 12am and Thursdays to Sundays between 7am and 1am.

It also hopes to provide late night refreshment Mondays to Wednesdays between the hours of 11pm and 12am and Thursdays to Sundays between 11pm and 1am.

 

 

The application is open to feedback until May 29.


Drivers will be unable to enter Blenheim Chase westbound from Elmsleigh Drive to its junction with Eastwood Road and Blenheim Chase roundabout while BT carries out cabling works from 9.30am on June 3 until 3.30pm on June 7.

Turning left from Flemming Avenue into Blenheim Chase, turning right from Flemming Crescent into Blenheim Chase and turning right from Eastwood Road into Blenheim Chase will also be prohibited. 

The alternative routes will be via  Elmsleigh Drive, London Road and Eastwood Road, Blenheim Chase, Elmsleigh Drive, London Road and Eastwood Road, and Eastwood Road, Eastwood Road North and Elmsleigh Drive.


A major city centre road will also be shut overnight while BT works take place.

Tylers Avenue will be shut at its junction with Chichester Road, leading to Clifftown Road.

Clifftown Road is also closing from its junction with the High Street and Tylers Avenue to outside the C2C train station.

The closures will be in place from 10pm tonight until 4.30am tomorrow. 


Loungers UK has applied for a new premises licence at 50/52 High Street, Billericay.

The café bar wants to sell alcohol between 10am and 12am daily for consumption on and off the premises. The proposed license also includes the provision of late night refreshment between 11pm and 12.30am daily.

The application is open to feedback, with anyone wishing to make representations told to contact Basildon Council by June 6.


DC Donovan Group Limited has applied to change its licence at Towerfield Business Park in Benfleet.

The business hopes to keep an extra six goods vehicles and four trailers at the Fane Road operating centre.

Anyone who believes their use or enjoyment of that land would be affected should make written representations to the Traffic Commissioner at Hillcrest House in Leeds by May 31.


Southend Steels has applied for a licence to use a unit on New Wick Farm as an operating centre.

The firm is applying to use Unit 2 at the Wakering Road site for two goods vehicles.

Anyone who believes their use or enjoyment of that land would be affected should make written representations to the Traffic Commissioner at Hillcrest House in Leeds by May 31.
