A MAN has been arrested as part of a prove after a car that was stolen overnight from Benfleet was discovered in a pub car park.

A Nissan Juke was taken from an address in Raymonds Drive, Benfleet between 9.30pm on May 14 and 4.45am on May 15.

Then, at around 1.35pm yesterday, police found the car on false plates in the car park of the Anne Boleyn pub in Southend Road, Rochford.

A 20 year-old man from Southminster was arrested a short time later on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and receiving stolen goods.

He has since been released on bail on August 20.

An Essex Police spokesman said: "If you have any information, CCTV, dash cam or other footage in relation to this incident, then please get in contact with us.
