A TEENAGER has admitted knife and driving offences after a police chase in Southend.

On Wednesday at around 12.25pm, Essex Police received a call about reports of someone with a knife in a car in Ruskin Avenue, Southend.

The vehicle was seen around an hour later and police directed it to stop but the vehicle made off.

Witnesses described how the chase “flew up” towards Great Wakering, with police boxing the car in on Great Wakering High Street.

Two teenagers were then arrested at the scene.

A 17-year-old, from Shoebury, was arrested and later charged with possession of a knife, aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, and driving without insurance.

He appeared at Southend Magistrates’ Court on Friday, where he admitted the charges. 

He was released on conditional bail until a sentencing hearing at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on June 14.

A 16-year-old, from Great Wakering, arrested on suspicion of possession of a knife, theft of a motor vehicle, and aggravated vehicle taking, has been released on bail until July 21.
