Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust's dedicated dementia care team is up for three national awards.

Celebrating their commitment to patients with dementia, the Learning Disability, Autism and Dementia team, across Basildon, Southend and Broomfield hospitals, have been nominated for the Dementia Care Awards.

They have reached the finals in three categories: Dementia Change Agent, Dementia Care Innovator, and Admiral Nurse Award.

Recognition comes for the training they offer staff, equipping them with the tools to better support dementia patients.

Jane Gilby, an admiral nurse who is based in Basildon, said: "I feel honoured and privileged to be nominated, it humbles me.

"I love my role, helping and supporting patients is enough of a reward."

Claire Turner, Learning Disability, Autism and Dementia lead, added: "Being shortlisted for these awards shows the hard work and dedication my team put into prioritising the needs of our patients with dementia and their families - I am so proud of them."

Award winners will be announced in June.
