A DRIVER stopped on the A127 for not "wearing a seatbelt" is set to appear in court after he was caught with a flick knife, police say.
The community policing team and rural engagement team in Rayleigh stopped a Ford Focus on the A127 after the officers say the driver was seen without his seatbelt on last Sunday.
An Essex Police spokesman said: "Subsequent checks showed the male was also driving not in accordance with a driving licence and with no third-party insurance, in addition he was found to be in possession of a locking flick knife."
The car was seized, and the driver was subsequently arrested.
A 29-year-old male from Greater London has since been charged with possession of bladed article, driving otherwise than in accordance with a license, driving uninsured and not wearing a seatbelt.
He will appear Basildon Magistrates Court on July 4.
