Drivers have been urged to allow extra time as overhead power lines are set to be removed near the Dartford Crossing.

UK Power Networks will be removing the lines which run between pylons across the roads south of the crossing, near Littlebrook Interchange, junction 1A on the A282 and Cotton Lane.

Amid this work, drivers are warned to expect disruption from 7.30am on Sunday, June 30, while the cables are safely lowered.

Traffic will be temporarily held on a rolling roadblock on the A282 north and southbound carriageways, on both sides of the Queen Elizabeth II bridge, plus adjoining roads from junction 1A, suspending traffic flow on both sides of Littlebrook Interchange.

A spokesman for the power firm said: "Each stoppage will last approximately 10 minutes per hour, a process repeated for four sets of cables throughout the day. Traffic will flow again between each power line being lowered.

"The temporary traffic stoppages will also be required on Cotton Lane to enable our team to safely lower the cables.

"While we have planned the work to keep traffic impact to a minimum, we recognise this is a very busy area and encourage drivers to allow extra time for journeys on Sunday, 30 June."
