PART of a major Benfleet road has been closed for up to 21 days after a "gas leak".
An emergency closure was put in place in Kents Hill Road yesterday while Cadent carries out the gas leak repairs.
The closure could be in place for up to 21 days, but is currently estimated to be completed on Wednesday, July 3.
This is in place on the slip road from the A13 to Kents Hill Road.
A diversion route of about seven minutes will be signposted.
A Castle Point Council spokesman: "There is an emergency closure of Kents Hill Road, Benfleet in place from June 25 for up to 21 days (estimated to be completed on July 3), required for the safety of the public and workforce whilst Cadent undertakes gas leak repairs."
