A victim has been attacked with a "large bladed weapon" during a serious assault on a high street in South Essex.
Essex Police say a 27-year-old man was assaulted on Canvey High Street, near Seaview Road, around 3:30am on Tuesday morning.
Officers report he was attacked by a man with a "possible machete", while another filmed the incident.
No arrests have been made at this stage and witnesses are being urged to come forward.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "A 27-year-old man from Canvey was assaulted in the High street close to Seaview Road, around 3:30am on August 13.
"He was attacked by a man whilst another recorded the incident on their mobile phone.
"Both men are described as being in their twenties, wearing black and facemasks.
"They ran off towards the town after attacking the victim.
"The victim was attacked with a large, bladed weapon, possibly a machete.
"If you have any information, please call us on 101 or report online, quoting investigation 42/123578/24."
