CUSTOMERS have shared their sadness after a sports bar and grill in Rayleigh revealed it is set to close this weekend.
Oyster Wharf Sports Bar and Brasserie, in Eastwood Road, will close for the final time on August 25.
In a statement on Facebook, the restaurant stated: “To our customers old and new, what a pleasure it has been serving you these last four years.
“Unfortunately, our doors are closing and Sunday, August 25 will be our last day open as the Oyster Wharf.
“Pop in and join us for a drink over the next week, we would love to see you.”
Bosses did not reveal the reason for the closure in the statement but within a social media comment said they are “just not busy enough”.
Residents have since been sharing their disappointment at the closure of the bar.
Sharna Rochelle, 24, from Southend, said: “It is a real shame to see them closing.
“My mother and I have always loved going there for celebrations, family gatherings, and even just a cheeky treat lunch.
“It is a beautiful atmosphere, and the staff have always been so friendly and accommodating.
“The food and drinks have also always been outstanding and perfect for our family of mixed age groups, and requirements. Everyone has always left more than satisfied.
“So, it is really sad to see them close. Our best wishes go to the team”.
Oyster Wharf Sports Bar and Brasserie offers a dining experience alongside large TVs on the walls to catch your favourite sports games.
Rochford District councillor Danielle Belton added: “I was really disappointed to hear the news this weekend.
“It is always sad to see a business close, especially one that seems to be well loved by locals.
“I have certainly enjoyed many a drink and meal in the bar.
“I don’t know the details of the closure but I wish the owners and staff well for whatever comes next for them.”
Oyster Wharf Sports Bar and Brasserie were contacted for comment by the Echo.
