All traffic has stopped on the A282 near the Dartford Crossing due to multiple incidents.
National Highways confirmed on X (formally known as Twitter) that motorists are facing long delays following several incidents within the area.
There are delays of at least 50 minutes above normal travel time with five miles of congestion.
The highway agency is urging motorists to allow extra time to their journey if travelling in the area.
All lanes were closed as the incident was dealt with but this has since reopened.
We have contacted National Highways and Kent Police to clarify the nature of the incidents.
