The coastguard in Southend had a non-stop day of rescues as incoming tides saw several people stranded at Chalkwell Bay and Beach.
On Wednesday afternoon, rescuers responded to reports of children trapped in the rocks at Chalkwell Beach.
By the time teams arrived on the scene, the children had already been helped by a passing adult and were later taken to hospital for the treatment of minor injuries.
Less than an hour after the coastguard received news of the cut off children, another call came in regarding multiple persons cut off at Chalkwell Bay.
Coastguard officers worked with Gravesend RNLI to guide the assist the individuals in getting back to shore.
Shallow water initially thwarted attempts to rescue the stranded party, but as the tide rose, officers from Gravesend RNLI were able to successfully reach the individuals.
Upon being rescued crews determined that the casualties were safe and well and left the scene after receiving welfare checks and safety advice.
The busy period also involved instances of broken-down jet skis, sail boats stranded on a sandbar and swimmers in distress.
