A MIXED martial arts gym described as a "second home" to its members is celebrating its first anniversary as bosses already eye up the possibility of expanding.
Paragon Training Facility MMA, in Blue Cedars, Billericay, was opened 12 months ago by owners Wesley Scott and Darius Hawkes.
The pair wanted to create a safe and welcoming environment in Billericay where members could learn valuable martial arts skills whilst building a strong sense of camaraderie.
After a successful first year, the owners are already looking ahead with plans to expand their facility by opening a wellness centre next door, offering physiotherapy and cryotherapy services.
Pitsea councillor, Ben Westwick, who trains at the gym, praised it as more than just a workout space, but a "second home".
He said: "I have been training here since it first opened.
"It is not just a gym, it is a place where you can learn valuable skills in mixed martial arts.
"It also feels like a second home and also a second family, and I highly recommend it to any age group.
"Paragon MMA is well on its way to becoming a cornerstone of the community, offering not just fitness, but a sense of belonging and support to all who walk through its doors."
Over the past year, Paragon MMA has made impressive strides now having more than 150 members.
The gym also currently employs eight staff members, including Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, James Gregory.
Co-owner Wesley said: "We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved so far.
"Having more than 150 members, ranging from ages 6 to 62, is something we never imagined.
"Our goal is now to open a wellness centre next door. It will include physiotherapy and cryotherapy services.
"We also want to watch our members grow and develop in the years to come."
Creating a close-knit community has always been at the heart of Paragon MMA's vision.
Co-owner Darius added: "We always aimed to build a safe space that feels like a second family.
"We regularly organise barbecues and days out, and it is already a fantastic community."
