Essex Police have issued an update after "bricks were hurled from a roof" in Southend High Street.
According to witnesses, chaos erupted on Southend High Street last night as bricks and tiles were hurled from the roof of a building.
It was claimed that a Deliveroo driver, and a man on a bike, narrowly avoided being struck by the bricks.
Pictures of the scene showed several police cars and officers on the scene shortly afterwards.
Essex Police have now issued an update and confirmed two people were arrested as part of their response to the incident.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "Two people were arrested as part of our response to reports of items being thrown from buildings in Southend High Street yesterday, Thursday 12 September.
"We were alerted to the incident shortly before 8.30pm. Thankfully, there were no reports of any injuries, however damage to a car is being investigated.
"After being alerted to the incident, officers on the ground stayed in consistent contact with Southend-on-Sea City Council CCTV operators who provided information to help locate a number of people.
"Within minutes, two people – a 17-year-old teenage boy and a 21-year-old man – had been arrested.
"Both have now agreed to attend voluntary interviews."
