ESSEX Police have arrested a man on the suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs after a major crash this morning on the A127 has caused delays across South Essex.
A spokesman from Essex Police said: “We were called to a collision involving a car and a motorcycle shortly after 9.30am this morning on the A127 at Dunton.
“We attended alongside ambulance service colleagues and a road closure was put in place while we worked at the scene.
“The motorcyclist, a man, has been taken on to hospital for treatment.
“He has suffered serious injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.
“A 38-year-old man, from Upminster, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and remains in custody for questioning.
“The road has since been re-opened to traffic.
“Anyone with information which could assist our enquiries should contact us as soon as possible.”
