TWO men have been charged with attempted murder, possession of an offensive weapon, and other offences in connection with a serious assault in Laindon on Tuesday.
Officers were called to Woolmer Green at around 3pm on Tuesday following reports of a fight and a man being seriously assaulted.
The victim suffered serious injuries, which are not life-threatening, and continues to receive hospital treatment.
Two men were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and they have now both been charged.
George Ripley, 22, of Woolmer Green, Basildon has been charged with attempted murder, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and possession of a bladed article in a public place.

Both men appeared at Southend Magistrates Court on September 12 where they will be remanded in custody until a hearing at Basildon Crown Court on October 10.
