THREE crews are the scene for the second day of the fire services' response to a huge fire at a recycling centre in Basildon.
Firefighters were called to to the Burnt Mills Industrial Estate in Basildon near the A127 in Basildon at 1.15am on Saturday morning.
Smoke could be seen billowing into the sky and across the A127 continuing all throughout the day, with drivers being told to drive with caution while on the A127.
While residents are being advised to close their doors and windows due to the smoke.
Two crews attended the fire on Saturday to Sunday night and is it unsafe for on-site staff to use diggers in the dark, the crews instead kept watch and tackled any hotspots.
On-site staff then returned at about 6am today to restart work to break up and move the burning materials.
In an update, a spokesman for the Essex Fire and County Rescue service said: "We will have three crews at the scene through the day to continue extinguishing the fire."
The spokesman also said that there was no more details on the five fire fighters who were sent to hospital on Saturday due to fears of smoke inhalation.
Thankfully the five firefighters were discharged after being given the all-clear a few hours later.
