A road in Benfleet has faced an "emergency closure" due to a burst water main leading into someone's property.
Clifton Avenue in Benfleet had a lane closed last night due to a burst water main - with Essex and Suffolk Water carrying out roadworks at the scene this morning to repair damage.
It is unknown how long the road will be closed while crews work on repairs.
Tory Essex county councillor for South Benfleet, Andrew Sheldon, said: "There is an emergency closure of one lane on Clifton Avenue due to a burst water main leading into someone’s property.
"Initially it was planned a full road closure, but I went down there during the afternoon school run after they had finished the main works and they agreed to open one lane up for rush hour until after the school run tomorrow."
The road is current closed again currently as works take place to repair the damaged road.
